چکیده

Objectives: To determine the frequency of left ventricular thrombus in acute ST segment elevation myocardial infarction, relation of left ventricular thrombus to degree of left ventricular-dysfunction, and effects of adjuvant therapy on left ventricular thrombus formation. Material & Methods: It was a descriptive cross sectional study conducted at Cardiology Department, Hayatabad Medical Complex, PGMI, Peshawar. One hundred ninteen patients, having acute myocardial infarction were included in the study. Main outcome measure, presence or absence of LV Thrombus ,was ascertained in ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) patients. Results: Total 119 patients were included in the study. There were 36(30.2%) female patients and 83(69.7%) male patients. The mean age of presentation was 59.5 ± 11.0 years. Left ventricular thrombus was found in 9(7.5%) of STEMI patients, 6 out of 9 patients had anterior wall STEMI. Conclusion: LVT is important complication of acute myocardial infarction and require timely diagnosis and treatment in form of anticoagulation so that its potential to embolize can be minimized.

Myocardial damage of the entire ventricular region in a patient with acute myocardial infarction

Technetium-99m-pyrophosphate (99mTc-PYP) has been used, in combination with thallium-201, to estimate the site and extent of myocardial infarcts. We report a case of acute myocardial infarction with severe coronary disease in which the distribution of 99mTc-PYP was extensive. A 78-year-old man presented with dyspnea, and a diagnosis of non-ST-segment elevation acute myocar...

Electrocardiographic left ventricular hypertrophy is not associated with increased in-hospital adverse events in patients experiencing first non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction: A single center study

Background: There is conflicting data about prognostic implication of electrocardiographic (ECG) left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) in patients with first non- ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). We aimed to examine the association of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) on admission electrocardiogram with adverse outcomes in patients with NSTEMI. Methods: In the present study, ...

بررسی تغییرات قطعه‌ی ST در روش 15 اشتقاقی در بیماران مبتلا به سندروم کرونری حاد

Background & Objective: Patients with ischemic heart disease classified to two major groups: patients with stable angina and patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS). Previous studies showed that posterior segment of left ventricle is a silent segment on ECG, and routine 12 leads electrocardiogram (ECG) is not sensitive for evaluation of posterior infarction. This study designed for evaluati...

Significant association between neutrophil aggregation in aspirated thrombus and myocardial damage in patients with ST-segment elevation acute myocardial infarction.

BACKGROUND This study was designed to clarify the relationship between myocardial damage and platelet-neutrophil aggregation in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). METHODS AND RESULTS The study group comprised 107 patients with ST-segment elevation AMI, in whom aspiration catheter was used during emergency percutaneous coronary intervention. Patients were divided into 2 groups ac...

The relation of ST segment deviations in 12-lead conventional Electrocardiogram, right and posterior leadswith the site of oc-clusion in acute inferior myocardial infarction

Background :In addition to diagnosing the acute myocardial infarction (MI), stratifying high-risk patients and proper treatment strategies are important issues in managing patients complaining of chest pain and suspecting MI. Many studies have been conducted to predict the occlusion site by interpreting the ST segment deviations in Electrocardiogram (ECG).Additional posterior and right precor...
